New Music Tuesday

On account of obsessive listening to The Double's "Loose in the Air" (out today on Matador), I've given only a cursory listen to the newly-leaked Franz Ferdinand -- but I will say that "Eleanor Put Your Boots On" is one of the loveliest songs I've heard in a while. "You Could Have It So Much Better," the Scots' sophomore effort, is out (legally) on October 4th.

In further New Music Tuesday news, The Rosebuds' "Birds Make Good Neighbors" and Giant Drag's killer debut LP "Hearts and Unicorns" also hit record stores today, but why buy when you can stream for free? (For those in Los Angeles, $5 gets you into Cinespace for Giant Drag's record release party tonight. Free vodka from 10-11, Giant Drag at midnight). As for the new Dandy Warhols -- well, for once Pitchfork gets it right.

But back to The Double: watch their video for "Idiocy" here (Real) or here (Windows Media). For you lucky Gothamites, the band will play a free record release party this Friday at the Frying Pan, which Matador's website helpfully notes "is moored at W. 23rd St. and the West Side Highway at the Chelsea Piers." Party at 6, band at 7:30. Do it.
