It just occurred to me that all but 3 of the events listed this week are FREE! With that in mind, consider splurging on a dinner at the Stanton Social. The menu is designed such that parties of 2+ order a bunch of taster dishes, and then everyone indulges together - perfect for "Can I try a bit of that?" types like myself. I can personally vouch for the red snapper tacos (mmm), the goat cheese ravioli with hazelnut pesto (yummm), the wasabi pea-crusted salmon (holy yum), the lobster chorizo paella cakes (holy fucking yumcakes), and the all-day barbecue beans, and - sweet mercy of our lady of sorrows - the WARM DONUTS. If you don't want dinner, get the warm donuts. Everyone should taste these things before they die.
And go see MGMT on 8.27. Their act is going to surprise the listening masses - let's say some key words include "uniforms", "large stage set", "virtuoso guitar", "hot dance beats", and "I'm going to be there dropping booty like the pimps in the crib, ma."
So, go ahead and enjoy the last vestiges of summer with the last vestiges of your paid internship.
