War of the Weird

Everyone should go see Weird War tonight at Mercury Lounge, unless they're seeing The Hold Steady, in which case all the power to them. Weird War was great when they played at Eclectic this past year at my school. You will like them if you liked The Make-Up, Nation of Ulysses, Howling Hex, most of the Drag City catalogue, or general throwback 70's rock. Or, if you hold a special place in your heart for cockstrutting frontmen who look like they are probably a cess pool of STD's and tend to sing in a falsetto bordering on castrato. Watch out for Ian Svenonious; he may look like a dippy, drugged out skinny 40-something, but he's actually into politics. And he will talk to you about them. For a long. Long. Time. Especially if you have boobies.
