Franz Pipian

The new Franz Ferdinand single, "Do You Want To", is so danceable that it hurts to sit down and listen to it. According to an article in Spin via Kate, the lyrics are made up of things people said to Alex Kapranos at an afterparty in Glasgow this past winter ("Your famous friend, well I blew him before you"; "I love your friends, they're all so arty"). The video is also goddamned hilarious. It has the FF boys running amok at an art opening, eating all the hors d'eouvres and swilling champaign; sort of like how I am when at a gallery opening. Then, they run around between Vanessa Beecroft-esque models, drag a Karen Finley type around a canvas covered in paint or chocolate, and take the piss out of Jeff Koons, Yoko Ono's "Yes" piece, Jenny Holzer, and several other heavy hitters. And it is great. If the above link doesn't work for you (it should automatically open Real Player; not sure if it works on Macs or not) you can also check the vid out here.

For those of you who eat drunk and non-kosher, there is a new filling at the notorious San Loco taqueria. It is called Pork Pipian. It's pork in some kind of green tomatillo sauce, and it is delicious, I tell you. You can get it in whatever you usually get, which should be the Guaco Loco, if you have any self respect.

the link probably works...I just don't think I have the right version of Windows Media Player. Either way, the blog depression of 2005 is really getting me down.
